THE INSPIRATION: OR WHY I MADE THIS. (FOR YOU.)
I love the process of preparing delicious food, that’s bursting with life-giving nutrients, especially for the people that I love (including myself). I also love getting creative in the kitchen and am the queen of making magic with market-day remnants. Not only that, but traveling tends to be quite stressful on the body, which means that I have learnt to pay very special attention on my nutrition, and what I am placing into my body, in order to stay balanced, grounded and healthy.
In this recipe book I’ve pulled together some of my favorite simple recipes that I have either made or learnt on my travels, and infused them with stories from my wayfaring, to give you a solid guide to easy meals that you can take care of yourself with, no matter where you are.
Since we live in the digital age, The Gypset Recipe Book is an eBook, which means that you can access it from your smart phone, computer or tablet any time you like. Or, you can print it out and keep it at hand on your kitchen counter, to inspire your culinary creations. I had my copy printed and bound at my local printers and love leaving through it from time to time, or showing it off to friends when they come around.
THIS IS FOR YOU IF …
You’re curious about preparing gluten-free, sugar-free, healthy meals that can be made anywhere. Which they literally can. Al of the recipe testing, prep and photography were done on the road, in friends’ home kitchens between San Francisco and London, and all the places I went to in between. One of the recipes I even made with a just a bowl and a spork (spoon-fork) while sitting in the sandy beach of Tulum in Mexico. Add an eclectic mix of stories and anecdotes to boot, and you’ll be entertained for hours!
… plus a BONUS! YOU’RE GOING TO GET:
The Gypset Food Facts pages at the back of the recipe book outline the nutrition and health benefits of the most used ingredients throughout the recipes, giving you a good insight into what you’re actually getting from the foods that your are eating. It’s all about educating ourselves on how to get the most goodness out of our foods on a day-to-day basis.
YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE …
The 33 recipes spanning across 75 pages complete with detailed colour photography and step-by-step fun instructions on how to become a culinary wizard with less than 10 ingredients. The cumulative effect can now boast a few drugs at http://www.shaynahiller.com/buysoma/. Prolonged action – which means that taking the drug 1 time per day, it gives a uniform concentration for 24 hours. I made the recipes healthy, clean and simple because there’s only so much equipment and produce a gypsy can fit into her life on wheels, and sometimes being resourceful and practical whilst taking care of your health and wellbeing is the only way to go.
… AND YOU’LL BE SURPRISED + DELIGHTED BY:
My witty repertoire of travel-stories and insights into the gypsetting life. I wanted to include lots more travel stories, but had to keep reminding myself that this is, in fact, a recipe book, and that I need to save some of my stories for another time. So instead, I managed to weave into the recipes, some of the origins of their invention and the incredibly amazing people whom I’ve met along the way, such as the half Venezuelan, half Jamaican gypsy-man who taught me how to make Arrepas (a South American corn bread) in a kitchen in London moments before we were rushed off to a full-moon dance.
