My friend Justine is a very talented young minstrel who works in entertainment as a comedian, radio and television host as well as hosting events and playing tunes as a DJ. She recently tweeted the following question through to me and so I decided to share my answers with all of you.
I understand this question well as it’s something that I am challenged with from time to time myself. We have all come across feeling an energy space that is either repellent or attractive. Some energies attract you and make you feel good and like you want to be around them whereas others others repulse you and make you feel like you want to get away from them.
What I know for sure is that “negative” and “positive” energy are actually your mind judging certain instances, situations and people as either “bad” or “good”. This is a mind-created illusion and actually means that this energy I am feeling is not in tune with who I am and where I’m at in myself right now.
There are several ways to deal with the experience of certain energies which don’t feel good to you, each depending on the situation and where you’re at in the moment. It may be your intuition telling you to leave, it may also be something you just have to deal with.
1. The higher your own vibration the more sensitive you are of this repellent energy field and concurrently the less it can actually affect you. You may observe that this energy you are feeling doesn’t resonate with you but are aware of it because it exists in your current space, however, as you are vibrating at such contrasting frequencies, it cannot affect you in any way. You will most likely choose to not give your attention to that energy because doing so changes how you feel. Basically, the more at peace and present you are the less “negative” energies can affect you.
2. If you, that moment, are not in a space where you can raise your own awareness and vibration to a state where you feel the comfortable sense of knowing that you are not being affected by the repellent energy field, then there is a way to create a safe space around you to protect you from the perceived negative energy. In this case I simply do a little visualisation exercise:
I imagine my entire body and more often than not, also my belongings, surrounded in a beautiful, safe and warm bubble. Inside the bubble I feel happy, loved and protected. I complete the visualisation with an affirmation along the lines of “Only the best energies come to me”. This works every single time and I use it whenever I feel I need to. I learnt this specific exercise when I was studying Reiki (Japanese energy healing) and there is a possibility that you have a client come to you who is carrying with them a lot of “negative” energy.
Additionally, I also ask for guidance. I ask what I can learn from this experience and the existence of this energy field in my current space. You’ll be surprised what may come up for you and how you can even transform the energy experience into something very positive!
3. Finally, if the first two solutions are failing you in that moment, then I suggest removing yourself from the situation altogether. Just leave. There is no reason why you should ever let any negative experience influence the way you are feeling and bring you down.
Often, when we are still at the beginning of our awakening path and still wavering within our own energy fields we aren’t strong enough to remain aware and present when a strong “negative” energy enters our field. The best thing to do in this case is to leave and take care of yourself and your well being by respecting where you’re at in that moment and accepting yourself. One day you will be stronger and the experiences you are having right now won’t affect you any longer and may disappear from your recognition entirely.
